Haider Al-Jubury tries on a Syrian suit made of Italian fabric 140s in a shop in Abu Ramana, Damascus, Syria, Saturday, July 12, 2003. The suit cost 1500 Syrian lyra , or, $300 U.S. dollars. A similar suit in the U.S. would cost $2000 or more. A Syrian family could live for one month with $300 U.S. dollars. Al-Jubury and Emad Al-kasid have been been planning the trip home to Iraq, over the last year. They are visiting their immediate families in Damascus, Syria, as hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Shiite settled in Syria after the Gulf War and their uprising against Saddam Hussein in 1991.
