The Al-kasid family's 16 large suitcases, two carpet rolls, many other personal and household items including a sattelite dish into one GMC Suburban in Saidah, the Iraqi area of Damascus, Syria, at about 2a.m. Sunday, July 20, 2003. The head of the family Malik Al-kasid, chief of the Hacham Al-kasid tribe, rode with the driver in the luggage vehicle, while his wife Kawther, sons Emad, Sajad, Hussein, Aladdin, the photographer road with the second driver. The family is returning to its home city of Nassiriyah for the first time since fighting in the 1991 uprising against Saddam Hussein, fleeing to a refugee camp in Saudi Arabia for 3 years and finally settling in Dearborn, MI.
